The Objective

OIC contacted Winning Media to update an existing website that was already aesthetically pleasing and easy for customers to use. In order to meet consumer demands, they needed a shopping cart feature and eCommerce capabilities to allow customers to browse through over 86,000 products and buy directly online. To help increase time efficiency in updating the product catalogue each month, we also developed a custom solution to integrate their existing database to import new products, update existing products and remove any products no longer available. Overall, our main goal was to deliver a carefully designed and high-functioning website for the client to manage ongoing product updates.

 

What we did

We first met with OIC to discuss their needs and understand key objectives that would form the basis for their tailored solution. We then reviewed supplied data from Elesa+Ganter and began the process of database setup. As one of our objectives was to improve the speed of updating product information on their website, we designed an integrated solution that would automatically update product details including images using data inputs supplied directly from Elesa+Ganter as well as error checking. To ensure the client could comfortably manage the database, we provided OIC with expert advice on how best to structure data inputs.

Once the database was finalised, we completed the design and development of their entire website. After the final website was delivered, we provided client education and training, as well as ongoing website support. This covered troubleshooting issues with data inputs to ensure a smooth-running, automated website.

The Challenges

Although OIC is a leading supplier of Elesa+Ganter, they needed a website design that represented their relationship while reflecting their own brand identity and clearly distinguishing them from Elesa+Ganter. The design of OIC’s existing website emulated the layouts of Elesa+Ganter’s website while also pulling through realtime data from the European site. The design needed to be clean, easy-to-use, and allow customers to effortlessly navigate and search for products from an extensive catalogue list.

Another key challenge was database management. We needed to provide the client with expert advice and troubleshooting regarding how to manage automated data inputs from Elesa+Ganter and cut down on manual updating time on the website. Extensive client consultation and training was required in order to ensure the understanding of how to manage the database and website in an ongoing capacity.

The Results

With their customers in mind, OIC received a neat, easy-to-use website with eCommerce capabilities that ensures an efficient online ordering experience. While still representing their relationship with Elesa+Ganter, OIC’s website is distinctive, reflecting their brand identity through unique content and design. Thanks to the development of the website, smart data structuring and automation has meant minimal ongoing management for OIC, despite extensive product categories and an ever-increasing product database of more than 86,000 products.
